Hi everyone, my name is Christine and I will be sharing what I love about Kamloops and focus on businesses who’ve truly amped up their COVID-19 protocols so the community can enjoy and feel safe. Each week I will feature three local businesses that I have visited or been in contact with by sharing my experience and highlighting what I love about each business.
Check out my adventures this week:
BC Wildlife Park

This past week my son and I had the pleasure of visiting the BC Wildlife Park. They set up a meet & greet for us and we had such a fun experience. We got to learn so much about the park from our tour guides. We also happened to be there at the perfect time to see Morty (the 14-year-old red-footed tortoise) get wheeled into the great outdoors to go bask in the sunshine. Morty is very social and loves attention. Each day he gets to go enjoy some outside time and catch some Kamloops rays. With COVID, unfortunately, they have had to cancel the interactive tours they usually offer but I would recommend booking with one of their tour guides to give you the whole great experience the park has to offer. After hanging with Morty and visiting the grizzly bears we left our tour guides to do our own walk about and explore. Our next stop was the train where they are sanitizing each time and everyone has to wear masks while riding. After the train, we stopped at the old caboose where Knox enjoyed some ice cream. The park is not just an exciting place for children to visit but also adults as well. We really enjoyed our day there and will definitely be back!
The Pond Country Market

The Pond Country Market is located in Barnhartvale and has so much to offer. Its the perfect little shop to find that unique gift and they also have a pretty little patio where you can have lunch. The shop is owned by three women, 2 of which I got to meet on my visit and they were very sweet. I chatted with them a bit about their business and what a great spot they have. I wanted to showcase this store because they are a little hidden gem in Kamloops. Knox and I enjoyed lunch on the patio and the food was amazing; the portions were very large and so so yummy. All the dishes are made fresh daily and they grow lots of their own veggies that they incorporate into their menu. This place is a must-visit. If you want to do a little shopping and have some lunch, you need to check out the Pond Country Market.
Fresh is Best Salsa

Fresh is Best Salsa has a great selection of yummy dips and salsas ranging from mild to extra hot!! Knox and I planned a visit to the beach today and of course, we needed some snacks so we headed to Fresh is Best. I recommend visiting their little store as they have so much more than just chips & salsa. I love how you can pronounce every single ingredient listed and you can taste the freshness & quality. This store is a perfect stop to grab snacks for your next get together or to just have on hand in your house. They are also part of the @luvntheloops passport program so when you visit you can purchase your bag of chips at 50% off!! Go check them out today!
Stay tuned for next week to see where my family ventures off to next.
